Category Information Technology Type Full Time Job Description NetImpact is seeking a mid-level UX Designer to join the AI Forge Product Team. This role will shape intuitive, efficient, and trustworthy experiences that help technical and nontechnical experts use AI to understand, produce, verify, and evolve software solutions. The UX Designer will work closely with product management, engineering, AI, architecture, quality, and delivery teams to translate complex workflows into clear journeys, interactions, and interfaces. AI Forge is NetImpact Strategies' commercial platform for AI-enabled software production and sustainment. It applies AI across the complete software lifecycle-from understanding and requirements through architecture, verification, software generation, release, and sustainment. AI Forge goes beyond code generation by helping teams produce and continuously evolve the complete software solution, including implementation, requirements, designs, tests, documentation, deployment products, traceability, and other supporting products. Responsibilities Own UX activities from discovery through validated design for assigned AI Forge capabilities and workflows. Translate complex software-lifecycle activities-including requirements analysis, architecture, generation, verification, traceability, synchronization, and change assessment-into usable product experiences. Design human-AI interactions that clearly communicate system status, sources, assumptions, confidence, limitations, and recommended next actions. Create user flows, journey maps, information architectures, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and production-ready interface designs. Plan and conduct user interviews, workflow observations, usability studies, concept tests, and design validation with internal and customer users. Design review, approval, correction, comparison, versioning, feedback, and exception-handling experiences that keep human judgment and accountability central. Partner with product managers to clarify user problems, refine requirements, prioritize opportunities, and define measurable experience outcomes. Collaborate with engineers to evaluate feasibility, resolve tradeoffs, support implementation, and assess delivered quality. Contribute reusable components, interaction patterns, content guidance, and accessibility standards to the AI Forge design system. Use AI-enabled research, prototyping, synthesis, and design tools thoughtfully to increase speed while independently validating outputs. Document design rationale and communicate recommendations clearly to technical leaders, delivery teams, and stakeholders. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in user experience, interaction design, human-computer interaction, visual design, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Three or more years of professional experience in UX design for complex digital products. Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product thinking, including discovery, problem framing, interaction design, prototyping, validation, iteration, and shipped outcomes. Strong knowledge of user-centered design, interaction design, information architecture, visual hierarchy, responsive design, and usability principles. Proficiency with Figma or comparable design and prototyping tools, including components, variants, libraries, and developer handoff. Experience designing data-rich, workflow-heavy, enterprise, developer, or business applications. Experience conducting practical user research and translating findings into clear product decisions. Working knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design, including WCAG-informed practices. Ability to reduce technical complexity without hiding information users need to make sound decisions. Strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain design decisions using evidence. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fully remote, cross-functional environment. US Citizenship with ability to obtain Federal Government clearance. Preferred Experience designing AI-assisted, generative-AI, agentic, recommendation, automation, or decision-support experiences. Understanding of human-AI UX considerations such as uncertainty, explainability, controllability, trust calibration, error recovery, provenance, feedback, and human oversight. Experience prototyping AI interactions and testing both ideal paths and failure states created by variable model outputs. Experience with developer tools, software engineering platforms, DevSecOps products, enterprise SaaS, or other technically complex systems. Familiarity with software development concepts, APIs, version control, requirements management, testing, CI/CD, cloud environments, or product analytics. Experience designing for regulated, security-conscious, government, or mission-oriented environments.
