Position Overview The Overseas Software Center (TOSC) is a new group within Mitsubishi Electric ICONICS Digital Solutions (MEIDS) focused on building and maintaining software products for Mitsubishi Electric USA businesses. By centralizing software development, TOSC creates scale, consistency, shared IP, and accelerates delivery of digital experiences across MEUS and the broader corporation. The UX Practice Leader provides design leadership across multiple digital products, ensuring high-quality, user-centered experiences that align with business and technical goals. This role leads projects as both a manager and individual contributor, establishing design and research best practices while partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a player-coach who can drive UX strategy, mentor designers, and execute hands-on design work to elevate UX maturity and create a cohesive design ecosystem. Key Responsibilities 1. Leadership Lead and mentor UX designers of varying experience levels. Run design reviews, coaching, and feedback cycles. Foster a collaborative, psychologically safe, continuously improving culture. Support onboarding of MELCO businesses and grow UX capabilities across
TOSC. 2. UX
Strategy & Vision Define UX vision and roadmap tied to product and corporate priorities. Translate user needs and technical constraints into clear design direction. Advocate for UX investment with cross-functional leaders. Maintain and evolve design systems, component libraries, and governance. 3. Design Execution & Quality Oversee user research, interviews, journey mapping, and usability testing. Guide discovery, wireframing, prototyping, and UI refinement. Ensure designs are scalable, accessible, and data-informed. Set quality standards, acceptance criteria, and delivery expectations. Produce design deliverables for engineering, including wireframes, clickable prototypes, mockups, user flows, and design specifications using modern design tools. 4. Cross-Functional Partnership Collaborate with Product on requirements and prioritization. Align closely with Engineering on feasibility and implementation. Build relationships with Marketing, Customer Success, and Support to unify experiences. Represent UX in strategic and leadership discussions. 5. Research, Insights & Metrics Promote the use of qualitative and quantitative insights. Define frameworks to measure UX impact and user outcomes. Integrate data into iterative design cycles to drive product improvement. 6. Operations & Design Process Standardize UX tools, workflows, and documentation. Partner with PM/Engineering on milestones, sprints, and work tracking. Ensure consistent application of design systems and accessibility standards. Introduce AI-enhanced design workflows where beneficial. Required Qualifications /Certifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, User Experience Design, Product Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Psychology, Cognitive Science, or a related field; equivalent practical experience is considered. 10+ years of experience in UX design, product design, interaction design, or a related digital product design discipline, including experience leading complex design initiatives from discovery through delivery. Proven experience leading, mentoring, or managing UX designers, including providing design direction, feedback, coaching, and career development support. Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design solutions, UX strategy, research-informed decision-making, design systems, prototyping, and measurable product impact. Experience collaborating with Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Customer Success, and other cross-functional stakeholders in an Agile or iterative product development environment. Demonstrated ability to allocate and prioritize limited UX/design resources across diverse and independent stakeholders with differing domains, business models, timelines, needs, and ways of working. Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar platforms, as well as experience with usability testing and user research methods. Knowledge of accessibility standards, responsive design principles, design system governance, and best practices for scalable digital product experiences.
