DESCRIPTION
The Enterprise Engineering (EE) team builds the internal productivity tools and capabilities that power Amazon. Our products reach every part of the company, and are changing the employee experience around how work gets done in the AI era. Most of the interaction patterns we need haven't been invented yet. We need your craft, your builder instincts, and your fluency with AI to help define what comes next. We are looking for a Senior UX Designer who will own product design end to end for AI-native tools used across Amazon. You'll work in spec-driven teams alongside engineers, PMs, AI specialists, researchers, and customers. You'll design for model capabilities that are changing in real time, prototype by building, and define how Amazonians (executives, engineers, non-technical staff) experience their daily tools. The visibility is high, the problem space is wide open, and design has a real seat at the table. The right person for this role is already AI-native in how they work. AI is part of your design practice now, not something you're planning to pick up. You pay attention to where model capabilities are heading and design for what's coming, not just what's shipping today. You'd rather build a working prototype than present a deck. You do your best work when the problem is fuzzy, the patterns are uncharted, and the upside is enormous. If you're looking for a role where you define new conventions rather than follow existing ones, where a small team punches well above its weight because AI makes that possible, and where your work shapes the daily experience of an entire company, we'd love to talk to you. Key job responsibilities Own product design end to end, from the first prototype to what ships, for AI-native tools used across Amazon Invent interaction patterns that don't have a playbook yet: how people direct agents, trust them, correct them, and work alongside them Prototype in code (HTML/CSS/JS), AI-assisted dev tools, and whatever gets a real thing in front of real users fastest Build a new design system using AI, extracting tokens, components, and patterns from product work as it ships Set product direction alongside PMs, engineers, AI specialists, and customers. On a team this small, design has a real say in what gets built Present design work and influence product direction with stakeholders and leadership across the organization Ship it, watch people use it, change it. Repeat About the team We're a small design team that experiments with how design gets done, not just what it produces. We're actively reshaping our own process around agentic workflows, AI-assisted development, and a product lifecycle that looks nothing like the one most enterprise teams follow. The way we research, spec, prototype, test, and ship is itself a work in progress, and we treat it that way on purpose.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
7+ years of UX designer or interaction designer experience Have an online portfolio or samples of work on resume, demonstrating experience creating great end-to-end, user-centered design solutions and patterns, across desktop and mobile devices 1+ years of working with or evaluating AI systems experience Experience presenting to and effectively advising senior leaders outside of design Deep experience architecting design systems (tokens, components, patterns, documentation) Proficiency in code-based prototyping (HTML/CSS/JS) or AI-assisted development tools Technical understanding of LLMs and how they inform product design decisions Degree in Design, HCI, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Daily use of AI tools (coding assistants, generative design tools, LLMs) in your design workflow Experience using AI to accelerate design system creation (pattern extraction, component generation, documentation) Experience with enterprise or internal tools at scale (100K+ users) Familiarity with spec-driven development, prompt engineering, model evaluation, or human-AI interaction design Experience designing novel interaction patterns: multi-agent orchestration, trust and transparency patterns, AI reasoning interfaces, or agentic workflows Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
