Purpose The Game Master is Escapetown. You are the person guests actually experience — the greeting, the briefing, the hints that land at the right moment, and the send-off that turns a group into repeat customers. Every policy in the handbook exists to protect what happens in your rooms.

Responsibilities:

Running Games Arrive 30 minutes before your first game (on the clock from arrival; do not arrive more than 45 minutes ahead). Greet every customer by welcoming them to Escapetown and asking if they have played escape rooms before. Waiver-check, show them the restrooms, and brief every group to standard rules Live monitor your room for the full game always paying attention; always keep a pre-typed hint current for the group's active puzzle. Have a simple debriefing with every group after their game - ask their favorite puzzles and ask to take their picture using their phone, every time. If there is over 30 minutes between their time running out and the next game, allow each group up to 15 minutes of additional time to help them finish. If additional time runs out or a group is scheduled within 30 minutes, offer to walk them through the remaining puzzles they were unable to solve. Reset the room completely and correctly between groups using the reset sheet every time. The next group gets a perfect room, every time.

Guests Deliver the post-game wrap-up:

Call-offs:

post in the shift-swap Discord channel first, then call/text the location phone if no one picks it up — no later than the morning of the shift. Post broken or worn props to #broken-props the day you notice them. Fix anything you can. Always chime in when you have a suggestion of a game or process that you believe can be improved - game masters often have the best ideas as they are the hands on heartbeat of the business. What Good Looks Like Groups felt welcomed because of the game master interaction and left feeling fulfilled and that the game master gave them an enthusiastic send off. Hints arrive at the right moment because you were watching and pre-typed, not because the group had to ask twice. Your resets are so reliable and neat that no one has to follow up with items that were not reset correctly.

Pay:
