Drexel University, Westphal College of Media Arts & Design Job Summary We are seeking a part-time Postdoctoral Researcher to contribute to both the technical development and research dimensions of the Skyscraper Games platform. The researcher will work across two partner institutions and collaborate closely with the PIs, student workers, and a Youth Advisory Group (YAG). This is an ideal position for a scholar with interests at the intersection of games, education, and creative computing who wants hands-on experience with community-engaged research. Essential Functions Support the design, development, and iterative testing of the block-based web IDE for skyscraper game creation Assist with the development and refinement of the Cira Centre digital twin in Fortnite Creative Co-author a research paper reporting on workshop evaluation outcomes Assist with planning for a 2027 nationwide contest, including development of web-based curriculum materials Contribute to project reports and public-facing communications Required Qualifications Minimum of a PhD or Doctorate Digital Media, Informatics, Computer Science, Learning Sciences, or a closely related field Experience with game design, game development, or creative computing tools and platforms Demonstrated interest in youth-centered or community-engaged research Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience facilitating workshops or educational programming with youth, especially middle-school-aged participants Familiarity with block-based or visual programming environments (e.g., Scratch, Snap!, MIT App Inventor) Background in participatory design, co-design, or youth-centered methodologies Prior work with underrepresented populations in STEM or computing education Location Remote, United States Additional Information This is a Part-Time per diem position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
