Job Description
University Events & Engagement University Assistant
Under the supervision of the Director of University Events & Engagement, this position has the responsibility for assisting in planning and implementation of University Events at Eastern Connecticut State University. This position would directly assist the University Event Director & Coordinators with their day-to-day responsibilities as they relate to the items listed below.
- Assist in the approval of space reservations for staff & faculty events and meetings. o EMS event scheduling and calendar support duties o Troubleshooting space requests with requestors as needed
- Support planning, setup, and breakdown of university and alumni events. o Review event diagrams and check set ups for accuracy o Communicate any necessary adjustments to the appropriate department (Facilities, Catering, Media, etc.)
- Facilitate the creation and posting of event related signage for event parking, location information, and directions.
- Track and file of event related paperwork, including invoices, certificates of insurance and usage agreements and event data collection.
- Assist with online posting and distribution of marketing materials for events.
- Support Event Staff (student, volunteers, professional staff, etc.
This support could include:
o Supporting events taking place on campus for internal, external, and non-Eastern affiliated clients o Serving as the site coordinator and staff contact for event needs on site before, during and after events- Assist with use of ticketing system for events. o Preparing regular ticket sales reports for review by Event Coordinators o Preparing post-performance financial/sales reports for review by Event Coordinators
- Organizing inventory of event related decorations, signage and equipment.
- Assist with the preparation of event supplies, including, but not limited to mailings, event supplies, gift bags, nametags and printed programs.
- Other duties as assigned related to events or University Event & Engagement needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of event planning experience
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Illustrator, Canva
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong oral and written communication skills, customer service skills and attention to detail.

University Assistant for the Academic Succes Center - Tutor Coordinator The University Assistant for the Academic Success Center (ASC) is responsible for supporting student success initiatives in the Center. The University Assistant role is an in- person, 19-hours per week position. Under the supervision of the Director of the Academic Success Center, the Tutor Coordinator will deliver and coordinate tutoring support services for undergraduate students. The Tutor Coordinator is responsible for supporting the following:Responsibilities:
- Hire, train, and supervise peer tutors.
- Provide individual and group tutoring in study skills, time management, and learning strategies.
- Coordinate tutoring services, study groups, and other academic support programming.
- Build partnerships with faculty, academic departments, and campus offices to identify and address tutoring needs.
- Present workshops and connect students with appropriate campus resources to support success.
- Maintain accurate records, track student interactions, and collect and analyze tutoring data.
- Promote tutoring services through outreach, events, and collaborative student success initiatives.
Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
- Experience in a college-level tutoring program or related student success/support program.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated ethical judgment, professionalism, and ability to serve as a positive role model.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
