Job Description
Straight North is seeking a talented and experienced Web Designer to join our dynamic team. The selected candidate will be responsible for creating visually compelling, user-focused website designs that align with client goals, brand standards, and digital marketing best practices. You will collaborate closely with project managers, copywriters, developers, and clients to transform business objectives into engaging digital experiences that drive results. This is a flexible remote/office position in our Downers Grove, IL office requiring one day in the office per week. Responsibilities
- Develop high-fidelity designs in Figma for new website projects and website support requests that balance aesthetics, usability, and conversion-focused objectives.
- Design responsive user interfaces that provide seamless experiences across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
- Collaborate with developers to ensure accurate implementation of approved designs and maintain design consistency throughout the development process.
- Work closely with copywriters and project managers to align content, messaging, and visual design with client goals.
- Present design concepts and rationale to internal teams and clients, incorporating feedback effectively.
- Maintain and evolve design systems, style guides, and reusable UI components to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Stay current on emerging web design trends, accessibility standards, UX principles, and responsive design best practices.
- Conduct design reviews and quality assurance checks to ensure projects meet established standards before launch. Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience as a Web Designer in a digital marketing agency, web development agency, or similar fast-paced environment.
- Strong proficiency in Figma, including component libraries, auto layout, prototyping, and collaborative workflows.
- Strong portfolio showcasing responsive website designs across a variety of industries and project types.
- Deep understanding of responsive web design principles, mobile-first design methodologies, and cross-device user experience best practices.
- Solid understanding of UX/UI design principles, information architecture, and user-centered design processes.
- Understanding of website conversion optimization and how design impacts lead generation and user engagement.
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards and best practices.
- Experience with landing page design and display ad design a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
- Self-directed, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
