Senior PHP/Symfony Developer
Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Senior PHP/Symfony Developer to support a marketing agency. This long-term contract opportunity is ideal for someone who can quickly strengthen application security, improve existing web platforms, and deliver dependable full-stack solutions in a fast-moving environment. The role calls for a self-directed developer who is comfortable balancing several initiatives while contributing high-quality code and modern development practices.
Responsibilities:
- Reinforce the security posture of existing Symfony-based applications by improving access controls, validating user input, and addressing known vulnerabilities.
- Design, build, and refine full-stack web features using PHP and Symfony, with careful attention to performance, maintainability, and secure architecture.
- Connect external services and APIs in a dependable manner, ensuring data exchange is protected and integrations are resilient.
- Manage work across multiple active assignments, adjusting priorities as needed while maintaining steady delivery timelines.
- Partner with technical team members during onboarding and ongoing development to align on standards, implementation plans, and code quality.
- Use AI-assisted development tools such as Codex, Claude Code, or similar platforms as part of the daily workflow to improve speed and efficiency.
- Produce clean, well-structured, production-ready code and contribute to upgrades that support increased project demand.
- Support frontend development efforts where needed, including work within modern JavaScript frameworks such as React.js.
- Investigate security-related issues and implement remediation measures that reduce risk across web applications. Requirements
- At least 7 years of software development experience in web-based environments.
- Strong hands-on expertise with PHP and the Symfony framework in production settings.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver both backend and frontend solutions as a full-stack developer.
- Practical knowledge of web application security concepts and experience applying secure coding practices within Symfony projects.
- Proficiency working with MySQL and managing application data effectively.
- Experience integrating and managing third-party APIs within web applications.
- Ability to work independently, shift between projects efficiently, and remain productive in a lean team structure.
- Willingness to use AI coding assistants as an essential part of the daily development process.
