Job Description
Lead Integration Engineer - Node.js / Azure Job Overview We are seeking a Lead Integration Engineer (Node.js / Azure or AWS) to play a critical role in a large-scale enterprise integration modernization initiative. This individual will serve as a hands-on technical leader , responsible for designing and delivering cloud-native integration solutions while partnering closely with architects, business stakeholders, and implementation vendors. The role combines deep engineering expertise, technical leadership and mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration. Key Responsibilities Engineering & Solution Delivery Design and build scalable, cloud-native integration services using Node.js and TypeScript Develop and maintain REST APIs, event-driven APIs, and system integrations Build solutions leveraging Microsoft Azure services, including: Azure Functions Azure Container Apps / Kubernetes Azure API Management Azure Service Bus / Event Grid Ensure code quality through testing, engineering standards, and best practices Review and validate vendor-developed code to ensure alignment with internal standards Architecture & Technical Leadership Partner with enterprise architects to define integration patterns, API standards, and event-driven architectures Contribute to the design of the target integration platform Identify opportunities to improve scalability, performance, and cost efficiency Drive adoption of modern integration patterns, including event-driven architecture, microservices, and API-first development Influence architecture decisions and delivery approaches Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate with architects, business analysts, product owners, and external delivery partners Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions Facilitate discussions around feasibility, technical tradeoffs, and innovation Bridge communication between technical and business teams Leadership & Mentorship Act as a technical leader within the engineering organization Mentor and coach developers on modern integration development, cloud-native practices, and API design Conduct code reviews and contribute to engineering standards Help build long-term internal integration capabilities AI-Enabled Engineering Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve development velocity, code quality, testing, and validation Identify and apply AI-assisted approaches throughout the integration lifecycle Required Qualifications 7+ years of software engineering experience Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and TypeScript Experience with backend frameworks such as Fastify, Express, or NestJS Proven experience building enterprise APIs and system-to-system integrations Experience with event-driven architectures, messaging, queues, and pub/sub Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure , including: Azure Functions Azure Container Apps AKS / Kubernetes Docker Azure API Management / API gateways Azure Service Bus Azure Event Grid Experience developing cloud-native distributed systems Strong understanding of API design, including REST and OpenAPI Experience with data transformation, resiliency, error handling, and retry/fallback strategies Experience with enterprise integration platforms such as MuleSoft, TIBCO, or similar Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Ability to lead technical discussions and operate at both a strategic and hands-on level Preferred Qualifications Experience with additional programming languages such as: C# / .NET Java Rust or Go Experience with CI/CD pipelines, including Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions Familiarity with DevOps / DevSecOps practices Experience with observability tools for logging, tracing, and monitoring Understanding of security best practices, including: API security Authentication and authorization Secrets management Experience with large-scale migration or modernization programs Experience with microservices architecture and Domain-Driven Design (DDD) Experience using AI-assisted development tools Education & Certifications Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience Microsoft Azure certifications such as: AZ-204: Azure Developer Associate AZ-305: Azure Solutions Architect Expert API or integration platform certifications are a plus Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning in cloud technologies, integration patterns, and modern software engineering practices Active participation in developer communities, open-source contributions, or technical content creation is a plus
