Job Description
- Job Overview
- This is a highly experienced Software Engineer to design, develop, and evolve backend-focused cloud and web applications that support our fuel management and IoT platforms.
- Design, develop and test backend-focused software elements for cloud-based and web-based applications.
- Architect and evolve back end application and system designs to align with current standards, scalability, reliability, and long term product roadmaps.
- Provide support to and partner with Front-End software engineer(s) on solutions, problem-solving, and setting processes and standards.
- Work as part of a team developing software in an agile methodology
- Develop software solutions for connectivity and IoT for our fuel management platforms
- Lead requirements analysis and definition of software architecture
- Design and optimize software for high performance, high availability, and low latency
- Write high quality, readable, and maintainable code with accompanying automated unit tests for both new and modified code
- Conduct peer design/code reviews and demonstrate software to stakeholders
- Collaborate with SQA, Product Service, development partners, and customers to monitor software performance, and investigate/resolve identified issues
- Provide technical leadership through code reviews, design discussions, and best practices.
- Qualifications
- Essential
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, related field, or suitable combination of education, experience, and training
- 10+ years of professional experience in commercial software development, with a strong specialization in full stack application development.
- Strong knowledge of architectural needs for web-based applications and ability to build and/or redesign them to meet current standards and business strategies/requirements/roadmaps.
- Experience working with MongoDB, including schema design and query optimization.
- Strong experience developing and supporting production systems using NodeJS.
- Experience deploying and operating applications in Kubernetes environments, including creating and configuring application infrastructure.
- Experience building and supporting solutions on AWS, including knowledge of services such as SQS, SES, and IAM.
- Strong understanding of unit testing and test driven development practices.
- Strong understanding of web application architecture, including the ability to design, build, and evolve systems to meet current standards and business roadmaps.
- Proficiency with source control systems and collaborative development workflows.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum software development environments.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, QA, product management, and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and support less experienced engineers through guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
- Sound product and user experience judgment, including awareness of customer impact, tradeoffs, and pragmatic decision making.
- Proficiency with Agile/Scrum software methodologies required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to develop high quality documentation
- Full software development lifecycle experience: requirements analysis, design, implementation, test (unit and functional), deployment, maintenance, and support
- Proficiency with source control required.

- Able to troubleshoot and problem solve in an embedded environment a plus
- Experience with secure software development practices is a plus.
- Experience with front-end web development a plus The base compensation range for this position is $147,290 to $189,000 per annum.
