Job Description

Nature of Work Under limited supervision, this position provides advanced administrative support to the Deputy Commissioner, and at times, to the Commissioner and leadership team. The role requires considerable independence and judgment, including policy interpretation and responsibility for adjunctive administrative duties under the guidance of a Deputy Commissioner. This position is responsible for a broad range of administrative functions, including office management, workflow oversight, project tracking, and data collection and reporting. The incumbent applies in-depth knowledge of Medicaid program areas, the bureau's mission, and the administrator's jurisdiction, policies, and priorities.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing sensitive and confidential support to the Deputy Commissioner, including preparing reports, forms, contracts, bulletins, manuals, and correspondence. Coordinating travel arrangements, processing travel and expense reimbursements, and approving time and attendance. Gathering and compiling information for special assignments, regular reports, budgets, and speeches for the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioners. Managing workflow, project tracking, and office operations to ensure efficiency. Responding to procedural or programmatic inquiries and assisting the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioners in analyzing and resolving operational issues. Performing related work as required. Minimum Requirements
TRAINING
: Graduation from a standard four-year high school or the equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
: Six years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in secretarial work, two years must have included administrative support or complex clerical duties.
SUBSTITUTION
: Successful full-time study in an accredited college or university, or resident business or vocational school training may be substituted through an established formula for the required experience. #
