Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Temporary Animal Technician and Adoption Counselor, where your passion for animal welfare and exceptional customer service will make a meaningful difference. In this energetic role, you will assist with daily animal care, support adoption processes, and provide vital information to prospective pet owners. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with animals and the community, ensuring their well-being while promoting responsible pet ownership. Your dedication and enthusiasm will help create a welcoming environment for both animals and visitors alike. Duties Provide compassionate animal husbandry, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring animals' health and behavior. Assist with animal restraint and handling to ensure safety for both animals and staff during routine procedures. Support veterinary staff with medication administration, sample collection, and basic medical treatments following proper aseptic techniques. Conduct pet care activities such as grooming, bathing, and socialization to enhance animals' adoptability. Engage with visitors as an Adoption Counselor by providing detailed information about animals, answering questions, and guiding potential adopters through the process. Maintain accurate records of animal intake, medical treatments, and adoption documentation using veterinary terminology and record-keeping protocols. Support kennel management by organizing supplies, cleaning enclosures, and ensuring a clean, safe environment for all animals. Experience Prior kennel experience or animal handling background preferred; familiarity with animal restraint techniques highly valued. Experience in veterinary clinics or veterinary technician roles is advantageous; knowledge of veterinary terminology and critical care practices is a plus. Hands-on experience with pet care, including dog handling, animal physiology, anatomy knowledge, and laboratory procedures is desirable. Background in veterinary assistant or veterinary clinic work demonstrates strong understanding of aseptic techniques and medication protocols. Equine experience or familiarity with larger animals can be beneficial but is not required; a passion for diverse animal species is appreciated. Excellent communication skills combined with a proactive attitude are essential for engaging effectively with visitors and team members alike. $14.50 - $15.50 per hour
