Job Description
Summary We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our team as a Temporary Summer Custodian at Columbia Union School District. This full-time position is essential for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our students and staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Responsibilities Perform general cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas. Maintain cleanliness and organization of school facilities to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for students and staff. Assist with the setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment for school events and activities. Empty trash receptacles and ensure proper disposal of waste materials. Conduct minor maintenance and repairs as needed, including changing light bulbs and fixing basic plumbing issues. Report any safety hazards, maintenance issues, or equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel. Follow all safety protocols and procedures while performing custodial duties. Collaborate with other custodial staff to ensure efficient operations and completion of tasks. Assist in inventory management of cleaning supplies and equipment, notifying supervisors when supplies are low. Participate in training sessions and staff meetings as required. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous custodial or cleaning experience is a plus, but not required. Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 100 pounds, bending, and standing for extended periods. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards. Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Must pass background checks as required by district policy. Availability to work part time hours (20 hours max per week). Willingness to work flexible hours, if necessary.
