Job Description

Therapeutic Behavior Aide ($250) Sign-On Bonus)
Hourly Wage:
$20.50 - Hourly wage will vary based on qualifications and credentials.
Position Summary:
The Therapeutic Behavior Aide is responsible for implementing each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). The Therapeutic Behavior Aide provides assistance with instruction, engages students during non-instructional activities, and monitors students while they move to and from various locations and activities within the school building and community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Effectively and professionally communicates with supervisors, students, multidisciplinary team, other school staff, and parents/caregivers
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of assigned students' Behavior Intervention Plans and implements these plans with fidelity
  • Utilize a neutral tone when addressing students' challenging behaviors
  • Ad to exclusion, seclusion, and restraint regulations
  • Collect required academic and behavioral data
  • Implement instructional plans designed by professional staff and facilitate student learning by implementing IEP adaptations, strategies, and supplementary aids
  • Engage students during academic work and non-academic activities
  • Assist students with daily living skills such as feeding, toileting, and completing hygiene activities as needed
  • Support students in vocational and career development activities by promoting independence with guided support as appropriate; this can be within the school building or in the local community
  • Attends and actively participates in classroom and school-based meetings and professional developments
  • Maintains current valid CPR/ First Aid and Professional Crisis Management (PCM) certification at the Practitioner level (or higher).
  • Demonstrates flexibility when working with various students within the classroom and adhering to their programming. At times, works in other classrooms based on the need
  • Ads to Linwood School policies and procedures.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • At least one year of working with individuals with autism is highly preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's MD license and an acceptable driving record as determined by criteria established by the Agency's insurance carrier and by Agency policy
Abilities:
  • Possess a skill set that can interface professionally with Linwood staff, parents, school system personnel, and other professionals.
  • Demonstrate the ability to address the developmental and social-emotional needs of individuals with autism.
  • Ability to be flexible by working in other classrooms based on need.
  • Ability to take direction from all supervisors and team members in implementing best practices and supporting students throughout the school day.
  • Ability to show enthusiasm, patience, and understanding.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Frequently required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, various forms of technology, or controls.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, run, or crawl.
  • Must be able to work under regular, moderate levels of stress.
