Job Description

Die Tryout Foreman General Summary Lead with safety first as the Die Tryout Foreman, managing all personnel and operations in the Die Tryout/Pressroom Department. Direct daily activities, assign tasks (directly or via team leaders), resolve issues, coordinate shifts, and hit deadlines—delivering quality work on time and within budget. Key Responsibilities Master the die build process and drive continuous improvements. Partner with Scheduling and Project Managers on capacity projections, delivery timelines, and chargeable hours beyond original scope. Meet customer die buyoff requirements within quoted hours.
Oversee tryout workers:
schedule shifts, delegate tasks, and ensure smooth operations. Champion safety—enforce protocols, train on machinery/gear, and maintain a clean shop floor. Inspect work to uphold quality standards and specs. Train and mentor staff to boost skills and performance. Troubleshoot issues, coordinate maintenance, and monitor inventory/staffing for production goals. Track production records, approve time tickets, and report on output/quality/incidents. Collaborate across departments (e.g., engineering, QA) for process enhancements. Qualifications & Skills Supervisory experience in manufacturing (ideally automotive stamping dies). Deep knowledge of production processes, equipment, and materials. GD&T reading, blueprints, specs, and work instructions. Strong leadership, communication (verbal/written), and team motivation skills.
Basic computer skills:
Email, Excel, Word. Preferred Background High school diploma/GED or equivalent. Certified Journeyman Die Maker or 10+ years in the trade. Hands-on experience with large outer panel stamping dies for automotive.
Position Details Type :
Full-time hourly (40-56 hours/week, Mon-Fri; weekends as needed).
Environment :
Shop floor with heavy machinery/tools—safety gear required.
