More information about the holding company and overall organization can be found at www.heicocompanies.com The Position The Transportation & Warehousing Manager is responsible for overseeing all inbound and outbound transportation, warehouse operations, and finished‑goods logistics at the facility. This role ensures safe, efficient, and cost‑effective movement, storage, and distribution of products while supporting production schedules, customer delivery requirements, and inventory accuracy.
Pay:
$115,000 to $125,000Key Responsibilities:
Transportation Management Manage all outbound and inbound transportation activities, including coordination with common carriers, dedicated fleets, and third‑party logistics providers. Schedule shipments to meet customer delivery expectations while optimizing freight costs. Negotiate freight rates and manage carrier performance, service levels, and compliance requirements. Monitor freight spend, analyze trends, and identify cost‑reduction opportunities. Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company safety policies, and customer requirements. Address transportation disruptions, delays, and emergency shipments as needed. Warehousing Operations Oversee daily warehouse operations, including storage, staging, and shipping of raw materials and finished goods. Ensure accurate inventory control, cycle counts, and reconciliation of discrepancies. Maintain proper material handling, storage practices, and space utilization. Coordinate closely with Production to align warehouse activities with manufacturing schedules. Ensure facility cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety standards (OSHA compliance). Team Leadership & Safety Lead, train, and supervise warehouse and transportation personnel. Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to all safety procedures. Conduct regular safety meetings, audits, and training sessions. Establish performance expectations and provide coaching and feedback to team members. Systems, Reporting & Continuous Improvement Utilize systems (Microsoft 365) to manage inventory, shipments, and reporting. Track and report key performance metrics (freight cost per ton, inventory accuracy, safety incidents, OTIF Delivery). Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve service. Support audits and compliance reviews related to logistics and warehousing. Job Requirements Bachelor's degree preferred (Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field) or equivalent experience. Minimum 5-7 years of experience in transportation, warehousing, or logistics management, preferably in manufacturing or metals/industrial products. Strong working knowledge of freight markets, carrier management, and warehouse operations. Experience with ERP systems and logistics software. Computer proficiency D365 (MS Suite experience). Solid understanding of DOT, OSHA, and general transportation regulations. Bilingual skill a plus, Spanish preferred. Able to work independently and within a team. Strong organizational and planning skills. Cost management and analytical capability. Excellent communication and coordination skills. Ability to operate in a fast‑paced, production‑driven environment. Hands‑on, problem‑solving mindset. Strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement. Physical Requirements Ability to pass a background check and drug screen. Prior experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Be able to sit for long periods.
