Job Description
Summary This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Transportation Department, including supervising team members, managing schedules, maintaining inventory, coordinating purchasing, keeping accurate records, and dispatching vehicles. All responsibilities are carried out in compliance with the Tribe's company standards, policies, and procedures. Essential Duties And Responsibilities The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully. This entails consistency performing our service expectations of: Welcoming, Proactive, Seamless, Personalized and Valued. Oversee the daily operations of the Transportation Department, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and high service standards. Supervise VIP Drivers by managing scheduling, daily activities, coaching, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions. Manage departmental administrative functions including inventory, payroll, timekeeping, purchasing, billing, vehicle registration, and fleet recordkeeping. Continuously improve department performance through coaching, recognition, and development of Team Members. Develop, maintain, and enforce departmental procedures and operational standards. Track grant budgets, expenditures, timelines, and documentation to ensure compliance and support audit preparation. Ensure all company and Tribal-owned vehicles are properly maintained, inspected, clean, safe, and presentation-ready at all times. Respond professionally to Guest transportation inquiries and assist with dispatch operations as needed. Ensure passengers are transported safely and efficiently using knowledge of local routes, GPS, and mapping applications. Maintain clear communication with Valet Dispatch and seek guidance for unusual situations when necessary. Ensure that the inside and outside of the vehicle is clean and ready for use prior to starting and at the conclusion of each trip. Conduct and verify all required pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with U.S. Department of Transportation regulations. Maintain thorough knowledge of casino property information, promotions, events, and gaming/non-gaming offerings to assist Guests effectively. Represent the Tribal organization professionally and positively when interacting with Guests, vendors, and Team Members. Attend all required safety meetings and training sessions as a condition of employment. Demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to make fair, honest, and timely decisions. Ensure vehicle inspections are completed prior to and after each shift to ensure that the vehicle is safe and in working order. Support audit preparation and respond to grantor inquiries. Ensure compliance with all Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) as well as all Tribal Internal Control Standards (TICS). Present a positive image of the Tribal organization to its guests and vendors and to assist them as required. Must follow all safety policies and procedures and attend all scheduled safety meetings and training as a condition of employment. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time. Supervisory Responsibilities Manage directly and indirectly all employees of the Transportation and Valet Operations department. Adhere to the Tribal organization's policies, procedures and applicable laws. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carry out supervisory responsibilities which include but are not limited to: interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Qualifications Education And Experience (Must Be Documented) Bachelor's degree preferred in Public Administration, Business, Finance, Transportation, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Two (2) years of experience in grant writing, administration, or transportation/logistics is preferred. Must possess strong knowledge of, or the ability to learn applicable Department of Transportation regulations including DOT mandated drug and alcohol test requirements. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Certification, Licenses And Any Additional Requirements Must be 21 years of age or older. Must pass periodic random drug screens. California Commercial Class "C" or "B" Driver's License with a Passenger endorsement. Clean DMV record and successful completion of DOT pre-employment screening. Must pass a DOT medical exam and provide proof of a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate. Must be able to pass background suitability investigation. Must have a valid Driver's License. Must obtain a Tribal Gaming License. Must obtain all other applicable certifications and licenses. Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States within 72 hours of employment. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use upper extremities, including but not limited to, hands and fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. They may be occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, bend, push, pull, twist, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and/or push, pull up to 100 pounds. The employee is occasionally required use repetitive movements to complete tasks. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee may be occasionally required to work in low light conditions, and may be exposed to loud noise for extended periods. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Multiple locations. Must be able to work in all extreme weather conditions. Some enterprises are open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week; therefore, you must be flexible to work any and all hours. Must be available for emergency calls 24/7. Must be available to work weekend and holidays. Some enterprises are gaming facilities. Some enterprises are not a smoke-free environment. Surveillance cameras and audio equipment monitor the premises recording activity throughout most of the facilities on 24 hours per day, 7 days per week basis.
