Job Summary:
The Transportation Specialist functions under the direction of the Transportation Supervisor of the Distribution Center. This position assists with the delivery of supplies to all WellStar customers with in the associated routes. This position is required to operate a motor vehicle ex: (van & truck). It also requires excessive walking, sitting and lifting up to 75 lbs. on a routine basis. Responsible for transporting of supplies, mail, equipment and medical specimens by vehicle to facilities of the WellStar Health System. Responsible for the movement of heavier materials as required (record boxes, hospital beds, desk etc.)
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Job Specific Knowledge
  • Verifies accuracy of supply boxes to acceptance of load to be delivered.
  • Responsible for daily inspection and cleaning of vehicle being used.
  • Reports any problems to appropriate leader and/or manager.
  • Responsible for completing all necessary paperwork pertaining to deliveries; as well as, driver logs and inspection reports.
  • Knowledge required to do the job, in a safe & efficient manner while following proper procedures and processes
  • Seeks opportunities to expand and apply job knowledge
  • Completes other duties as directed by leadership Resources Management & Performance Improvement
  • Manages time in a resourceful manner to meet the needs and objectives of the department and completion of job assignments
  • Manages supply delivery so as to reduce any waste
  • Operates equipment in compliance with training processes and manufacturers Customer Service & Cultural Awareness
  • Takes proactive measure to meet the needs of customers
  • Seeks and uses information concerning culturally based needs of customers
  • Takes basic steps to improve problems and bring solutions
  • Works with other team members, leaders, and managements to seek and find solutions to problems and improve work processes Team player
  • Consistently works with team members and leadership to meet goals and objectives
  • Presents a positive image by meeting dress code requirements
  • Supports and participates in performance improvement to improve customer service and/or organizational performance
  • Communicates with all customers and team members in a respectful manner and in terms that are clear, concise and simple Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education:
High School Diploma General or GED General Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): GADL -
Georgia Driver's License Required Minimum Experience:
