Position Summary Los Angeles World Airports is seeking an Assistant Airport Manager to serve as the main point of contact for existing airlines doing business with LAWA and to lead efforts to bring new passenger and cargo air service to Los Angeles. This leadership role is part of LAWA's Airline Services Division and reports to the Chief Operations & Maintenance Officer. The position represents LAWA with airlines, aviation-industry organizations, and government agencies, using relationship-building, strategic analysis, market data, and persuasive communication to support air service growth. Key Responsibilities Serve as LAWA's primary point of contact for airlines. Coordinate monthly Airline/Airport Affairs meetings and conduct regular direct meetings with large air carriers. Communicate with airlines regarding minimum gate usage requirements, airport operating rules and policies, airline business agreements, flight scheduling, and facilitation. Develop and execute marketing strategies to grow international and domestic passenger and cargo air service. Manage the air service incentive program and the air service consultant. Oversee air service studies and market research. Establish procedures, policies, and standards for future air service marketing. Manage LAWA's Strategic Marketing Alliance with the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board, ensuring task orders align with LAWA priorities and comply with City contracting policies. Represent LAWA with airlines, industry organizations, and government agencies. Lead a small team. Build the division's annual budget around its strategic goals. Minimum Qualifications Leadership experience in airport management, airport operations, or air service development at a commercial airport. Working knowledge of FAA and TSA requirements and airport operating rules. Demonstrated ability to build rapport with airlines and partners using tact, diplomacy, and discretion. Strong strategic and analytical skills, including the ability to use market data to make the case for new air service. Clear, persuasive written and oral communication skills for executive audiences. Sound judgment and the ability to manage broad objectives independently. Preferred Qualifications Experience developing airline routes, passenger service, cargo service, or airport air service strategies. Experience managing airline incentives, air service consultants, market studies, or aviation demand analysis. Experience working with airport gates, airline business agreements, airport operating policies, or flight scheduling and facilitation. Experience managing public-sector, destination-marketing, tourism, or strategic partnership agreements. Experience leading a small team and developing budgets tied to strategic goals. Experience presenting aviation strategy, market analysis, or route-development recommendations to executive audiences.
