AIRPORT MANAGER
Beautiful Northern Wisconsin Resort Community Land o lakes, WI (KLNL) is seeking a dependable, self-motivated individual to serve as Airport Manager for our municipal airport. Located in a beautiful resort community in Northern Wisconsin near the Wisconsin-Upper Michigan border, this position offers a unique opportunity to manage and promote an important community asset while enjoying the quality of life of the Northwoods. The Airport Manager is a municipal employee who reports to the Land-O-Lakes Airport Commission. The Airport Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, administration, and promotion of the airport.
Primary responsibilities include:
  • Airport operations and general maintenance
  • Snow and ice removal from runways, taxiways, and airport grounds
  • Mowing and grounds maintenance
  • Oversight and operation of the airport fuel station
  • Airport inspections and coordination of maintenance needs
  • Administrative work and required reporting with the FAA and Wisconsin Bureau of Aeronautics
  • Maintaining airport records, grants, correspondence, and other municipal documentation
  • Computer and general office work
  • Maintaining and updating the airport website and online information,
  • Marketing and promoting the airport to pilots, visitors, businesses, and the surrounding community
  • Coordinating summer airport events
  • Working cooperatively with the Land-O-Lakes Airport Commission, municipal officials, airport users, town Chamber members, contractors, and state and federal agencies The ideal candidate will be reliable, organized, mechanically inclined, comfortable working with computers, and able to work independently.
Good communication and public-relations skills are important. Aviation or airport experience is desirable, but the municipality may consider candidates with related maintenance, management, municipal, equipment-operation, or administrative experience. The position requires the ability to operate maintenance with mowers and snow-removal equipment. You must respond to airport needs during winter weather and other situations as necessary. This is an opportunity to become an important part of a small Northern Wisconsin community and help maintain, improve, and promote its municipal airport.
