Technicians and gain ALARNG membership, all current federal employees, all U.S. Citizens Duties Help 1. Performs Ammunition Inspections pertaining to the receipt, classificion, storage, issue and shipment of ammunition items. May receive shipments of all types of ammunition and verify DA form 1348 against Depot surveillance Records for correct NSN and Condition Code. Insures commercial carrier delivering ammunition has been inspected in accordance with regulions and standing opering procedures. Verifies quantity of containers for accuracy of nomenclure, stock and lot numbers against shipping documents and signs for shipments. Receives turn-ins from using organizions, counts each item received and inspects for serviceability. Classifies merial to assure compibility of explosive items. Studies new merial to determine how it functions, how it is constructed, and compibility for storage purposes according to technical manuals. (20%) 2. Conducts inspection of ammunition being turned-in to determine suitability for further training needs. Takes approprie steps in the disposition of Ammunition Condition Codes
  • H (ACCH) merial.
Ammunition Condition Reports (ACRs) are prepared and sent to item manager for disposition of restricted and/or suspended items. If disposition is determined to be locally demilitarized; contact designed Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team and assist with demilitarizion mission. (30%) 3. Prepares items for shipment to other depots and/or installions. Using the correct Department of Transportion (DOT) regulions and packing requirements, ensures all shipments meet DOT requirements, are palletized and banded according to the hazard class division, and establishes the correct weight and cube. Uses approprie technical manuals, determines the proper name and unit number. Ensures the approprie 1348's are filled out and sent to Transportion Officer. Studies new merial to determine how it functions, how it is constructed and compibility for storage purposes according to technical manuals. Conducts observions and inspections of ammunition. In storage, inspects ammunition for corrosion from moisture and deteriorion. Inspects for dents, loose detonors/fuses, discolorion and softness of dynamite and stains from nitroglycerin. Marks defective ammunition as prohibited for issue. Inspects ammunition of using organizions to determine its condition. Ensures th safety and storage requirements are properly observed. Responds to units which have misfires and/or malfunctions with ammo items. (15%) 4. Verificion Inspection. Performs a variety of routine and special inspections of conventional ammunition. Performs quality monitoring of maintenance operions, area inspections magazine storage inspections and basic load inspections. Assists Quality Assurance Specialist Ammunition Surveillance (QASAS) when requested. Maintains a variety of publicions, regulions and files pertaining to work of the unit. The following are typical, but not all inclusive examples of work performed: Performs periodic, storage and special inspections and tests to determine quality safety and condition of a wide variety of ammunition, subcomponents, and merials used in the maintenance, modificion and manufacture of ammunition items.(15%) 5. Demilitarizion Inspections. Monitors ammunition and explosive reled operions firing sites and demilitarizion areas for adherence to regulions and procedures concerning explosives, compibility, quantity distance, explosive and personnel limits, transportion and utilizion of protective equipment. Inspects ammunition and components using approprie Ammunition Surveillance Procedures. (7%) 6. Transportion Reled Inspections. Inspects empty military vans and trucks to ensure th carriers meet standards for transporting ammunition, explosives, and other hazardous merials. Performs inspections of incoming and outgoing vehicles for blocking and bracing, compibility and compliance with applicable storage and out-loading drawings security requirements, as well as compliance with applicable DOT regulions. Assists QASAS or designed representive in monitoring procedures for loading and unloading of ammunition onto or from military aircraft. Accompanies local ammunition shipments and receipt, when required to ensure safe and secure movement of merial across public roads. (10%) 7. Propellant Inspections. Inspects propellant charge containers and bulk propellants in storage. Inspects condition of powder bags for service-ability, safety, and markings. Checks containers for serviceability and storage discrepancies and report's findings to QASAS or designed representive for action or implements correction actions. Collects, packages, and marks propellant stability test samples for shipment as directed by QASAS or designed representive in charge. (3%) Performs other duties as assigned.

Must have knowledge of regulions and standards for safety in receiving, shipping, storing, and handling of ammunition and explosives. Knowledge of inspection criteria reled to commercial and military vehicles for unsafe mechanical conditions prior to loading with ammunition and explosives. Knowledge of environmental rules and regulions to ensure the Ammunition Supply Point has no infractions. Ability to opere motor vehicles and forklifts for loading/unloading, transportion, and storage of Ammunition and Explosive merials.
