Under close supervision, operates a school bus to safely transport students for Somerton School District No. 11.SPECIFIC DUTIES/TASKS INCLUDE
: Performs pre-trip inspection of bus, including checking gas, oil, water, lights, brakes and safety. Transports students to and from school along a scheduled route. Maintains discipline on the bus. Prepares necessary discipline reports. Performs post-trip inspection of bus and reports any maintenance problems. Maintains mileage and student count log. Prepares incident reports as needed. Transports students on field trips and other outings. Washes and keeps bus clean and orderly and performs related duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS REQUIRED
: Knowledge of motor vehicle laws, especially pertaining to school bus operation. Knowledge of school bus inspection methods and procedures. Knowledge of school disciplinary procedures. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skill in safely operating a school bus. Skill in monitoring students and keeping order while driving. Skill in following oral and written instructions. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
: Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments. Work requires frequent driving, bending and lifting up to 30 pounds. May be exposed to moving equipment, extreme weather conditions, toxic fumes and chemicals and infectious diseases.QUALIFICATIONS
: High School Diploma or equivalent. Must possess an Arizona commercial driver's license and school bus driver certification. Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District. Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP) required at the time of hiring.Benefits
