In this energetic and responsible role, you will operate school buses and transit vehicles to transport students efficiently while maintaining the highest safety standards. Responsibilities Safely transporting students to and from school, as well as on field trips and co-curricular activities. Operating assigned and alternate bus routes in accordance with applicable laws, District policies, and schedules. Conducting daily bus inspections and reporting needed maintenance or repairs. Safely loading and unloading students, including assisting students with disabilities and securing wheelchairs or other adaptive/assistive devices. Maintaining student safety and discipline while students are on the bus and reporting concerns as required. Maintaining the cleanliness of the bus, including daily sweeping and periodic interior/exterior cleaning. Maintaining required transportation records, including mileage, student counts, and transportation tickets where applicable. Performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Knowledge:

School transportation practices, procedures, safety requirements, District policies, and applicable regulations.

Skills/Abilities:

Safely operate a school bus; read and follow instructions and regulations; maintain student order and calmly address difficult situations; communicate effectively; complete routine reports; recognize vehicle problems; perform basic math; and remain focused while driving in a potentially noisy environment. Spanish language skills are helpful but not required.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

Class B Driver's License with passenger endorsement, School Bus Certificate, current medical card, and current CPR/First Aid certifications.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit for extended periods, climb/balance, and occasionally stand, walk, bend, kneel, or crouch; regularly lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds; possess necessary vision and sensory abilities for safe driving.

Work Environment:

Regular exposure to vehicle/mechanical conditions, outdoor weather, fumes, vibration, and moderate to occasionally loud noise.
