Small neighborhood schools are a hallmark of the District where students are educated from preschool through twelfth grade and a world-class adult school program offers unique, life-improving courses to thousands of community members. Job Summary Job Summary Bus Drivers for the San Luis Coastal Unified School District are responsible for ensuring the safe transportation and supervision of students while under their care. The person hired for this position will drive a bus over designated routes for the purpose of safely transporting students to and from school and on special trips, transport students with disabilities, in wheelchairs, or who otherwise require additional support. This is a full-time position on a 180 work day calendar, plus 13 paid holidays. SLCUSD provides 20 hours (minimum) of classroom training at no cost to eligible candidates. Upon passing the DMV commercial written exam (to obtain a Commercial Learner's permit with Passenger endorsement), and the CHP school bus written exam, candidates will be considered to proceed to 20 hours of paid behind-the-wheel training. Eligibility criteria includes, but is not limited to, the ability to obtain a commercial license permit (clean driving record, passing a commercial medical exam and drug test), the ability to obtain a school bus certificate (CHP written exam, background check, and eventually a behind-the-wheel test with the CHP after training is complete). Additionally, candidates must pass an independent background check/livescan for the school district upon receiving a contingent job offer.
