Duties Safely operate commercial vehicles such as school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vans in compliance with all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations Assist passengers with wheelchair assistance, boarding, and disembarking to ensure comfort and safety for all riders Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including first aid and CPR when necessary Maintain communication with dispatchers using radio or other devices to respond quickly to traffic changes or route adjustments Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to identify mechanical issues and ensure vehicle codes are met before each trip Enforce student discipline policies and behavior management strategies during school bus routes or transit operations Provide excellent customer service by addressing passenger inquiries professionally and ensuring a positive experience for all riders Perform heavy lifting when necessary for loading or securing mobility devices or luggage in compliance with safety standards Adhere strictly to state and local commercial driving laws, traffic laws, and transportation safety regulations at all times Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for bus operation and passenger transport Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or transit bus operation with a strong understanding of vehicle codes and traffic laws Knowledge of emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including first aid, CPR, and emergency stop procedures Ability to communicate effectively in English; multilingual skills are a plus for serving diverse communities Experience working with children or seniors is highly desirable; familiarity with student discipline and childcare practices preferred Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and identify maintenance needs Strong communication skills combined with behavior management abilities to handle passenger interactions professionally Physical capability for heavy lifting and assisting passengers with mobility challenges safely Knowledge of school policies related to student safety and behavior management is advantageous Join us as a CDL Driver where your dedication ensures safe journeys while providing exceptional service.
