Duties Safely operate school buses in accordance with traffic laws, vehicle codes, and school policies. Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and readiness before each route. Pick up and drop off students at designated stops, ensuring timely arrivals and departures. Assist students with disabilities or those requiring wheelchair assistance, providing respectful and compassionate support. Enforce student behavior policies to maintain discipline and a safe environment onboard. Respond quickly to traffic changes, emergency stop procedures, and unexpected road conditions to ensure passenger safety. Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and emergency responders when necessary. Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for school bus operation. Proven experience in bus driving, including school bus driving or transit bus operation. Knowledge of traffic laws, transportation safety regulations, and emergency response procedures for transportation. Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting students or handling equipment. First aid certification and CPR training are highly desirable to respond effectively in emergencies. Experience working with children or in behavior management is preferred. Multilingual skills are a plus for serving diverse student populations. Strong communication skills, quick response capabilities, and a customer service-oriented attitude are essential.
