Palm Tran, Inc. is seeking professional Bus Operators with excellent customer service and communication skills. This position is responsible for performing skilled work operating all public transit vehicles on all scheduled routes and special services throughout Palm Beach County. Work involves operating diesel powered passenger buses over prescribed routes within set areas and maintaining records and logs, as may be required along with accurate passenger counts. Bus Operators have the responsibility for the safety of their passengers, the vehicle operated, and for completing the assigned route within the prescribed time schedule. Assigned schedules are based on bids and seniority. Employees in this position provide general information to passengers and/or general public, as requested. This is an "essential employee" position required to work during disaster or emergency declarations. This position is an Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) classification. High School Diploma or equivalent certification/GED; Valid Class E Driver's License. Individuals who are hired with Class E Driver's License will be provided paid training to obtain the CDL and (P) endorsement. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A or B with Passenger (P) and endorsement or have the ability to obtain the required license and endorsement within sixty (60) days of employment, failure to obtain the required driver license within sixty (60) days may be subject to termination. Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B with Passenger (P) endorsement OR CDL Learner's Permit with Passenger (P) endorsement.
