Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and responsible Bus Driver/Manager to join our transportation team. This role combines professional driving with leadership responsibilities to ensure the safe, efficient, and courteous transport of passengers, including children, seniors, and individuals with special needs. As a Bus Driver/Manager, you will be the face of our organization on the road, providing exceptional customer service while adhering to all safety regulations and policies. Your energetic approach will help foster a positive environment for passengers and staff alike, making every journey safe, comfortable, and enjoyable. Duties Safely operate various types of buses including school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vehicles in compliance with traffic laws and transportation safety regulations Conduct pre-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking brakes, lights, signals, and emergency equipment Respond quickly to traffic changes and unexpected road conditions to maintain schedule integrity and passenger safety Manage passenger behavior through effective communication skills and behavior management techniques while ensuring a respectful environment Provide first aid or CPR when necessary and follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents Maintain accurate records of trips, incidents, vehicle maintenance, and passenger counts in writing or electronic logs Requirements Proven experience in bus driving, including school bus driving or transit bus operation Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport and wheelchair assistance Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and state/local commercial driving laws Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities Experience working with children or seniors is highly desirable; familiarity with student discipline policies is beneficial Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for vehicle maintenance or passenger assistance Certification in first aid and CPR; knowledge of emergency stop procedures and emergency response protocols for transportation Excellent driving record demonstrating defensive driving skills and a quick response to traffic changes Ability to follow school policies regarding behavior management and passenger safety guidelines Good writing skills for completing reports accurately; ability to communicate effectively with team members and passengers Please review our Mission, Vision, Philosophy of Education and Statement of Faith to see if you align with school.
