In this energetic and rewarding role, you will operate school buses with precision and care, providing a positive experience for young passengers while adhering to all safety and traffic regulations. Duties Safely operate school buses along designated routes, ensuring timely pick-up and drop-off of students Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after each trip to ensure safety and proper functioning of all systems Follow all transportation safety regulations, including DOT (Department of Transportation) and state laws, especially when driving in adverse weather conditions Assist passengers with special needs or those requiring additional support, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the journey Use two-way radios for driver communication and coordinate with dispatchers for route updates or emergencies Maintain accurate logs of trips, vehicle inspections, and any incidents that occur during shifts Navigate city streets efficiently while adhering to traffic laws and maintaining a defensive driving approach Skills Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and identify potential issues early Proven experience with school bus driving, motor coach operation, or shuttle driving preferred Strong understanding of transportation safety regulations, traffic laws, and DOT requirements Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents, school staff, and team members Ability to navigate city streets confidently using GPS or local knowledge while maintaining safety standards Customer service orientation with patience and professionalism when assisting passengers of all ages and needs Experience with vehicle maintenance procedures related to bus driving or delivery driving is a plus Ability to operate air brake systems and other specialized vehicle controls safely Embark on a fulfilling career where your driving expertise makes a real difference!
