About the Role Imagine Schools is looking for a safe, dependable, and caring Bus Driver to transport students to and from school along established routes, as well as to special events such as field trips and after-school sporting events. What You'll Do Safely drive a school bus in accordance with time schedules, transporting students to and from their homes and on field trips as assigned Oversee student boarding and departure, releasing students only to authorized individuals Ensure all safety belts are fastened Maintain the bus in safe operating condition and report needed mechanical repairs Keep the bus clean Follow district policies, rules, regulations, and all mandatory school bus safety regulations Supervise children during emergency drills Display professional behavior with students, families, co-workers, and the community Recognize common safety hazards and take necessary precautions to maintain a safe bus operation Assist with medical and behavioral situations as needed Prepare student discipline reports and issue bus citations when appropriate Model positive character virtues and habits, and help students develop positive moral and performance character Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal/School Leader What We're Looking For High School Diploma or GED Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and driving experience preferred 1-2 years of related work experience preferred Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating manuals Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment Patience and a passion for working with children of all personality types Ability to perform well in a physically demanding and sometimes stressful environment Physical Requirements This is an active role that involves standing, lifting, walking, bending, and stooping, including lifting children as necessary. Candidates should have close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish colors (with or without corrective lenses). Drivers must be able to safely operate pedals and steps, work in seasonal heat, cold, and adverse weather, and manage exposure to fumes, dust, odors, and ambient noise.
