General Summary:
A Bus Route Driver plays a vital role in the daily operations of United Community School District by safely transporting students to and from school and school-related activities. This position requires a dependable and caring individual who values safety, punctuality, and positive interactions with children. Bus drivers are often the first and last school staff members students see each day, and they help set the tone for a welcoming and respectful school environment.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Valid CDL with school bus and passenger endorsements (or willingness to obtain) Clean driving record Ability to pass required background checks and physical examinations Strong communication and interpersonal skills Experience working with children is preferred A commitment to safety, reliability, and professionalism
Duties and Responsibilities:
Safely operate a school bus on regular and special routes Follow established routes and schedules in a timely manner Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety Maintain order and ensure student safety on the bus Build positive and respectful relationships with students and families Communicate effectively with school staff, students, and parents when needed Report any incidents, concerns, or maintenance needs promptly Follow all federal, state, and local regulations regarding school transportation
