Duties Assist in the safe operation of school buses under supervision, adhering to traffic laws and school policies Learn and follow emergency response procedures for transportation. Support with passenger safety by helping students board and disembark, including wheelchair assistance and behavior management Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it meets safety standards and report any issues promptly Communicate effectively with dispatchers using clear English and multilingual skills if applicable Respond quickly to traffic changes or unexpected situations to maintain safe driving conditions Uphold transportation safety regulations and vehicle codes during all driving activities Requirements Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; commercial or school bus driving experience is a plus but not required Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings required for working with children Basic knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle operation, and defensive driving techniques Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are an advantage Prior experience working with children or in senior care is beneficial but not mandatory Commitment to safety, punctuality, and excellent customer service throughout daily routes This paid trainee role is designed to equip you with the skills needed for a successful career in school transportation.
