Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary The Lewis University Police Department is a trained, professional organization committed to providing a safe and secure educational and working environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors.

The bus driver and program are under the supervision of the University Police Department. The function of the

bus driver is to provide a skilled

licensed operator to drive the University's shuttle bus both on and off campus as required.

Responsibilities Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service

excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University's Mission and Catholic and

Lasallian higher education.

  • Operate University bus and other vehicles
    safely and in compliance with all applicable Illinois Vehicle Code provisions and University policy.
  • Respond appropriately to violations of University Behavioral standards and policies
  • Write reports and maintain appropriate
    documentation according to departmental standards
  • Courteously assist passengers by providing prompt, flexible and user friendly customer service
  • Interact and support team efforts within and between the University's divisions and departments
  • Conduct regular inspections and minor
    maintenance of bus and accessories
  • Understand and execute verbal and/or written instructions and guidelines
  • React quickly and calmly to emergency situations, determine an appropriate course of action and ensure an appropriate response
  • Understand basic emergency response
    and safety principles
  • Work afternoons, evenings and/or weekends as needed in four hour shifts
    Minimum Qualifications Possess High School Diploma or GED.

Be

21 years of age or above. Possess

Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with

Passenger Endorsements. Have excellent driving record. Pass criminal background investigation. Perform physical demands

of the position. Comply with DOT medical policy.

Preferred Qualifications One to three years minimum of CDL driving experience. Previous experience as a bus driver or school bus driver.

Essential Duties Work hours Will vary depending on established schedule; 4 hour shifts. Late afternoon into evening hours, weekdays and weekends.
