Job Description
Overview Join our team as a School Bus Driverwith a union CBA and play a vital role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and friendly transportation of students to and from school and related activities. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work with children, promote safety, and foster positive experiences during daily commutes. As a key member of our transportation team, you'll be responsible for operating school buses and providing supervision to ensure a secure environment for all passengers. Duties Safely operate school buses and paratransit vehicles according to traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies. Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure mechanical safety and readiness before each route. Supervise students during boarding, riding, and disembarking to maintain order and promote positive behavior. Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and emergency responders using clear English or bilingual communication skills. Enforce safety rules and behavior management strategies to create a respectful environment onboard. Assist students with special needs or childcare requirements, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the journey. Complete accurate logs, incident reports, and vehicle maintenance records as required by regulations. Experience Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred but not mandatory for all positions. Prior experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or working with children is highly desirable. Knowledge of mechanical systems related to vehicle maintenance and safety checks. Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities. Experience in behavior management or teaching can enhance your ability to handle student interactions effectively. Ability to work safely in various weather conditions while maintaining professionalism and attentiveness.
