Full Job Description Position Overview:
The Big Buddy Program Driver plays a vital role in connecting youth in Baton Rouge to meaningful educational and enrichment opportunities by providing safe, reliable, and respectful transportation. Drivers serve as the first and last point of contact for youth engaging with the Big Buddy Program, helping to ensure a positive and caring environment from the moment participants enter the vehicle.
Note:
Driver must currently work for East Baton Rouge Public School Transportation Department.
Core Beliefs:
The Big Buddy experience begins when youth enter the vehicle. Every youth deserves respect and high expectations. Transportation is a privilege and an integral part of the program's impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely transport youth to and from designated program sites and special activities. Maintain attentiveness to both the road and the needs of youth passengers. Foster a positive and respectful atmosphere in the vehicle. Follow all traffic laws, safety protocols, and Big Buddy Program guidelines. Adhere to scheduled pick-up and drop-off times; communicate delays as needed. Drop off and pick up youth at their front doors unless otherwise directed by the Transportation Coordinator. Report any behavioral issues to the Site Manager within 24 hours. Attend all mandatory training sessions and staff meetings. Communicate regularly with the Site Manager and other staff regarding routes, schedules, and youth needs. Report all accidents immediately to the Transportation Coordinator or Executive Director.
