Overview Join our dynamic team as a School Bus Driver and play a vital role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and timely transportation of students to and from school and related activities. As a School Bus Driver, you will be responsible for operating school buses in accordance with traffic laws, safety regulations, and school policies, all while providing excellent customer service to students, parents, and staff. Your dedication will help foster a safe and welcoming environment for young learners every day. Responsibilities Safely operate school buses, transit buses, or paratransit vehicles to transport students and staff according to scheduled routes and timeframes. Follow all traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and emergency response procedures during daily operations. Assist students with boarding and disembarking, including providing wheelchair assistance and managing behavior to ensure passenger safety. Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in proper working condition; report any mechanical issues promptly. Maintain clear communication with dispatchers, school staff, and emergency responders using radios or other communication devices. Respond quickly to traffic changes or emergencies with appropriate stop procedures and safety protocols. Ensure passenger safety by enforcing student discipline policies and managing behavior effectively while demonstrating excellent customer service skills. Perform heavy lifting when necessary for loading or securing equipment or assistive devices. Complete all required documentation accurately, including shift reports, incident reports, and route logs. Experience Proven experience driving buses or commercial vehicles such as transit or school buses. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations applicable to school bus operation. Experience working with children or in childcare environments is highly desirable. Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred; training will be provided if not already obtained. Familiarity with emergency stop procedures, defensive driving techniques, and child behavior management strategies. Multilingual skills are a plus for communicating effectively with diverse student populations. Ability to respond swiftly to traffic changes or emergencies while maintaining composure under pressure. Prior experience with wheelchair assistance or paratransit services is advantageous but not mandatory. $150.00 - $165.00 per day
