YACS Creative Learners from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade are provided appropriate arts-integrated learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Reporting to the Principal, the Instructional Specialist supports the Principal in his/her leadership of the school's academic program. While the exact responsibilities of this position may vary based on placement ( i.e. Lower, Middle, High School), the Instructional Specialist works to achieve the academic priorities of the school. The Instructional Specialist works with the Principal to support teacher development, implement instructional performance management, evaluate support personnel, successfully implement the curriculum and meet all other academic goals defined by the district and the Principal. They works closely with department chairs and other school leadership team members to provide students with appropriate arts-integrated learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth that are aligned with the school's mission and vision. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Safely transport students to and from school according to assigned routes and schedules. Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the school bus. Ensure the safety of all students during loading, unloading, and transportation. Follow all federal, state, local, and school transportation laws and regulations. Maintain appropriate student behavior while on the bus and report disciplinary concerns to school administration. Keep accurate records of inspections, mileage, fuel usage, and incidents. Report mechanical issues, accidents, delays, or unsafe road conditions immediately. Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of the assigned bus. Attend all required safety meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions. Assist with emergency evacuations and follow all emergency procedures. Transport students on field trips and other school-sponsored activities as assigned. Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements. A valid CDL is a condition of employment and must remain current throughout employment. Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate. Clean driving record. Ability to pass criminal background checks, fingerprinting, pre-employment drug screening, and any required random drug and alcohol testing. Previous school bus driving experience is preferred but not required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent driving and defensive driving skills. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies. Dependable, punctual, and professional. Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and school personnel. Knowledge of traffic laws and school transportation safety regulations. Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a school bus. Ability to safely operate a commercial school bus. Ability to assist students during emergency evacuations. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary. Work Schedule Morning and afternoon school routes. Additional hours may be required for field trips, athletic events, and other school activities. Required License Applicants MUST possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements before employment.
