This vital role involves operating a specialized 7D van, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations, and providing a positive, secure environment for young passengers. The ideal candidate will possess excellent driving skills, a compassionate attitude towards children, and a strong commitment to safety and customer service. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the well-being of children while maintaining high standards of transportation safety. Duties Safely operate the 7D van in compliance with all traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations. Transport children to and from designated locations, ensuring timely and secure pickups and drop-offs. Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking fluid levels, brakes, lights, and safety equipment. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including emergency stop procedures and first aid protocols. Communicate effectively with parents, daycare staff, and emergency responders as necessary, demonstrating excellent customer service skills. Manage behavior and ensure passenger safety through behavior management techniques and adherence to school policies. Respond quickly to traffic changes or unexpected delays to maintain schedule integrity. Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for school bus or transit bus operation. Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or transit bus operation preferred. Knowledge of traffic laws, student discipline policies, and transportation safety regulations. First aid certification (CPR training preferred) with the ability to respond effectively in emergencies. Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for diverse communities. Experience working with children is highly desirable. Familiarity with emergency response procedures for transportation incidents and defensive driving techniques.
