POSITION OVERVIEW
Prince George's Christian Academy (PGCA) Before & After Care Program offers supervised care for students, ages 5-13, enrolled in Prince George's County Schools and PGCA. Our mission is to provide a quality, developmentally appropriate program in a loving, clean, and safe Christian environment. As the only before and after school program in a private faith-based Prince George's County school, we serve our Academy and the surrounding school system. This position entails shuttling students between PGCA Upper School (Sheriff Rd.) and PGCA Lower School (Brightseat Rd.) in the mornings and afternoons, as well as providing transportation from public schools for aftercare. If the sound of children laughing, singing, and playing is music to your ears, we're interested in talking with you. We have an immediate opening for a driver to support our program. The successful candidate will have experience driving a bus and working with children, particularly transporting grade school-aged kids to school in the past.
SCHEDULE
The incumbent must be available to work the following schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 to 9:00 am and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Pick up and drop off students at scheduled locations, following strict time schedules. Drive multi-passenger vehicles to transport students between public schools and PGCA Upper and Lower School and/or school activities. Report any bus malfunctions or needed repairs. Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations. Check the condition of vehicle tires, brakes, lights, and safety equipment to ensure everything is in working order. Comply with traffic regulations and operate vehicles safely and courteously. Ensure student safety during boarding, exiting, and crossing streets. Navigate routes using maps and verbal directions. Regulate vehicle temperature and maintain cleanliness. Maintain knowledge of first-aid procedures. Maintain order among pupils during trips to ensure safety. Prepare and submit reports on passenger trips, hours worked, mileage, fuel consumption, and fares received.
QUALIFICATIONS
Membership, in good standing, of a local Bible-believing church, or willingness to become a member. Agreement with our Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of education. Commitment to being a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must have at least one (1) year of experience working with children between the ages of 5-12. Must hold a high school diploma or a certificate of high school equivalence. Must love children and enjoy working with them. Must have the ability to supervise children. CDL license required. 1+ years' experience driving a school bus or van. No at-fault traffic accidents in the last 5 years. Clean driving record (no traffic citations in the last 5 years). Ability to carry out assigned routes on time. Excellent communication skills. Must be able to submit to authorities.
