Are you looking for a rewarding job where you can make a difference in students' lives while enjoying a flexible schedule and summers off? If so, the Copper Country Intermediate School District has an immediate opening for a School Bus Driver with route options in Houghton, Baraga, or Keweenaw counties of Michigan.
WHAT WE OFFER.
$21.00 or more per hour starting pay (based on experience). Health insurance, or if no health insurance is needed—-we'll pay you $661.84/month instead (yes, even during the summer break). Dental, vision, life, and accidental death/dismemberment insurance at no cost to the employee; CCISD pays 100% of premiums. Additional optional insurance benefits available. Paid sick days, personal days, and 9 paid holidays; sick/personal leave bonus. Paid time off for inclement weather school cancellations. Michigan Public School Employees Retirement Plan. Reimbursement for the cost of school for CDL drivers who paid for their own CDL schooling. Full-time school-year position working about 6 hours per day on a split shift. Summers off, spring break off, and Christmas break off.
WHAT YOU WILL DO.
Safely transport students to and from school in a variety of weather and traffic conditions. Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Maintain a clean and well-kept bus. Create a welcoming and safe environment for all students including those with special needs. Work as part of a supportive team of drivers, aides, and school staff.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR. 18
years of age or older and a high school diploma or equivalent required. A valid CDL (A or B) with Passenger and School Bus endorsements (or willingness to obtain). Ability to pass a school bus driver physical and drug test. A clean driving record and a patient, friendly attitude with children. Ability to complete a criminal history background check and fingerprinting. Willingness to obtain State of Michigan Bus Driver Certification (training provided). Willingness to obtain Safety Care Certification in verbal de-escalation and physical intervention techniques (training provided).
