Job Description

Gateway to Success Academy is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious Substitute School Bus Driver to assist with a limited weekly transportation route. This is a very part-time position, generally consisting of a Friday route to Baldwin on scheduled half days. The position is expected to average no more than two regular driving hours per week, with occasional additional substitute driving opportunities as needed. As a member of our school team, you will help ensure students are transported safely, professionally, and with care.
Key Responsibilities Student Safety:
Safely transport and supervise students during assigned routes and trips.
Compliance:
Follow all Innovative Education Services, Michigan Department of Education, MDOT, and federal transportation requirements.
Communication:
Communicate student behavior, safety concerns, route issues, or vehicle concerns to the School Lead or designated administrator.
Vehicle Care:
Complete required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and promptly report any maintenance or safety concerns.
Substitute Coverage:
Provide transportation coverage for the scheduled Baldwin route and other routes or field trips when available. Required Qualifications Candidates must meet all State of Michigan and federal school transportation requirements, including: Valid Michigan CDL Class B with Passenger and School Bus endorsements Valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate Ability to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen Enrollment in the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse and random testing program Successful completion of required criminal background checks and livescan fingerprinting High school diploma or GED Acceptable driving record demonstrating safe operation of passenger vehicles Ability to complete all required school bus driver training and continuing education Schedule Primarily Fridays on scheduled half days Route transportation to and from Baldwin Generally no more than two regular driving hours per week Additional substitute routes or field trips may occasionally be available Gateway to Success Academy is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
