Job Description

Suttons Bay Public Schools is seeking a full-time, year-round Bus Driver and Maintenance employee to join our team. This dual-role position requires a hard-working, self-motivated person with a positive attitude and the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and the community. Training will be provided, and the district will cover the cost of obtaining a CDL license, including the required endorsements.
Groundskeeper Responsibilities:
Maintain school grounds, including mowing, trimming, weeding, planting, and leaf removal. Perform seasonal maintenance such as snow removal, salting, and landscaping. Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment safely and efficiently. Inspect outdoor areas, playgrounds, and athletic fields for safety and cleanliness. Assist with outdoor event setup and minor facility maintenance as needed. Report repair needs or safety concerns promptly. Other duties as assigned.
Bus Driver Responsibilities:
Conduct pre-trip inspections and address maintenance concerns. Fuel and clean the bus as needed. Assist students with seating, assistive devices, and safety concerns. Provide direction to bus aides and manage student behavior. Communicate effectively with teachers, families, and students.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license. Ability to pass a background check and MDE physical (annually). Must obtain a CDL with B, P, and S classification and Air Brake endorsements (district covers cost). Must meet Michigan Department of Education and DOT requirements for driving performance and drug/alcohol testing.

Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 6:45 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.-4:15 p.m. (approximately)
