Job Summary Join the Valley Park School District as a School Bus Driver and help ensure safe, reliable transportation for our students. In this role, you will operate school buses transporting students to and from school, extracurricular activities, and special events. Your dedication to safety, excellent communication skills, and positive attitude will help create a secure and welcoming environment for young passengers. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' daily lives while maintaining high standards of transportation safety and customer service. Responsibilities Safely operate school buses according to traffic laws and company policies. Follow all transportation safety regulations, including emergency response procedures and vehicle codes. Ensure passenger safety by adhering to child behavior management protocols and supervising students during transit. Assist passengers with disabilities or mobility challenges, including wheelchair assistance and loading/unloading heavy equipment. Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle, checking brakes, lights, signals, and safety equipment before each route. Respond quickly to traffic changes or unexpected road conditions to maintain schedule integrity. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff. Follow school policies regarding student discipline and behavior management during transit. Maintain accurate records of routes, incidents, vehicle maintenance checks, and passenger counts. Experience Proven experience driving buses or commercial vehicles such as transit buses or vans. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle operation codes, and transportation safety regulations at the state and local levels. Experience working with children or in childcare environments is highly desirable. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for school bus or transit vehicle operation. Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred but not required; willingness to obtain training is expected. Pay:
$23.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 20.0 per week
