Job Description

About us: Burlington Recreation and Parks provide a diverse range of programs that enhances the well-being of our residents. Besides just being fun, Burlington's parks, programs and services provide opportunities to improve physical and mental health, develop our youth, focus on the environment and make a positive impact on our city.
What you will do:
The bus driver's responsibilities are to provide positive leadership and guidance to the children and be aware of their safety at all times
Work Schedule:
Monday
  • Friday, 2:15pm
  • 6:00pm & on occasion Early Release Days, 11:15am
  • 6:00pm (days and times may vary). The program will operate during the traditional school year from August
  • June.
Transportation Duties:
Ensure the safe transport of program participants, staff, and volunteers to and from scheduled locations. Assist staff with the safe loading and unloading of children. Maintain constant awareness of children's safety while providing positive leadership and guidance.
Counselor Support:
Step into the role of Afterschool Counselor when not performing transportation-related tasks. Organize and implement structured activities and games designed for children aged 5-14. Create a fun and engaging environment while prioritizing participant safety. Collaborate with directors and fellow counselors to complete daily housekeeping duties.
Leadership and Engagement:
Serve as a positive role model and actively engage with participants to foster a supportive atmosphere. Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and program guidelines.

Comprehensive Vehicle Knowledge:
Possess full and thorough understanding of the bus operations, ensuring compliance with all driving regulations and prioritizing safety at all times.

Exhibit an outgoing, fun, and approachable demeanor, creating a welcoming and engaging environment for children.

Minimum Qualifications:
Ages:
18 years of age or older A Commercial Driver's License (CDL
  • B with P endorsement)
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with children and CPR & First Aid Certification are desired
