Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Lead School Bus Driver to join our transportation team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, ensuring a secure and positive experience for all children. As a leader among bus drivers, you will oversee daily operations, mentor junior drivers, and uphold the highest standards of safety, customer service, and communication. Your enthusiasm and professionalism will help foster a welcoming environment that prioritizes student well-being and punctuality. Duties Safely operate school buses and paratransit vehicles on designated routes, adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations. Supervise and support other bus drivers, providing guidance on driving techniques, safety procedures, and behavior management. Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure mechanical soundness and cleanliness before each route. Assist with student boarding and disembarking, ensuring proper behavior and safety protocols are followed. Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and dispatchers to coordinate schedules and address concerns. Maintain accurate logs of routes, mileage, incidents, and vehicle maintenance needs. Promote a positive environment by managing student behavior with patience and clear communication. Skills Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving with a focus on school bus or paratransit services. Strong knowledge of driving safety practices, vehicle mechanics, and basic maintenance procedures. Excellent communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse communities. Ability to work effectively with children, demonstrating patience, empathy, and behavioral management techniques. Exceptional customer service skills to foster positive relationships with students, parents, and school staff. Familiarity with child care principles and senior care considerations when applicable. Demonstrated leadership qualities suitable for supervising other drivers and managing route operations efficiently. Pay:
$24.50 - $29.51 per hour
