Transportation Essential Functions:
As a driver in the Transportation Department, you will be driving multiple routes based on student demand across the North Carolina Central University campus. Drivers also will be required to drive over the road buses, shuttles and vans for various events and activities local and long distance. Bus drivers will gain an understanding of the entire campus to answer student and faculty questions. It is also the responsibility of the bus driver to conduct vehicle inspections and ensure the safety of our students, faculty and staff.
Minimum Education/Experience:
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Requires appropriate licenses or certifications to operate assigned types of vehicles or equipment. Must have a valid Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement Licensure to operate any vehicle above a 15-passenger or valid Class C License to operate any 15-passenger vehicle or below. Pass DOT physical, drug screening and background check.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Two years verifiable motor coach driving experience. Smooth operational skills with excellent defensive driving. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively. Read maps, and maintain expense and mileage records. Ability to understand and follow safety procedures. Complete incident reports when necessary. Load and unload luggage and assist with passenger boarding. Professional manner, appearance and positive attitude possessing good organizational skills and time management skills.
