Sick Leave (NJESSL), NJ Defined Contribution Retirement Program if applicable Job Summary The Senior Transportation Bus Driver provides safe transportation for Hillsborough Senior Citizens and the disabled population, using a 14-passenger bus or other municipal vehicle. This position alsosupports the activities of the Community Assistance Network and other programs within the SocialService Department. This is a public-facing role that requires tact and the ability to maintain a highlevel of confidentiality Job Responsibilities Coordinate daily schedule of riders Transport residents to doctor's offices, physical therapy, grocery shopping, banking, etc. asindicated by the Social Services Department management team Assist passengers on and off the bus as needed, including those using a wheelchair; properlysecuring the wheelchair and rider for the trip. Carry grocery bags to the front door of residents after shopping trips. Follow up with passengers who have not called for a return pickup within a reasonable amountof time by checking with office staff. Make sure that all residents dropped off for an activity havebeen returned home Periodically transport residents on all-day shopping trips to shopping malls outside of the localarea. Inspect the bus daily for litter or personal items left behind Clean the exterior and interior of the bus on a weekly basis, including washing of interiorwindows, damp mopping the floors, and vacuuming the seats Reports daily to the office to review bus routes & checklists and discuss issues with the vehicles Provide administrative support to office staff and other duties, assignments, and projects asneeded Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required Ability to arrange special needs services to the public on sensitive issues with a highdegree of compassion and confidentiality Ability to plan routes efficiently Excellent organizational skills Efficient time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines Outstanding customer service skills Knowledge of Google documents, sheets, calendar, & email and MS Office (Word andExcel) Preferred Bilingual in Spanish Prior office experience Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required Minimum formal education of High School Diploma or equivalent NJ Commercial Driver's License, Class A or B, with Passenger Endorsement. Valid NJ Driver's License Completion of a defensive driving class every three years Preferred CPR/AED certification Physical Requirements Have the capability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds Ability to sit and stand for long periods Able to work in a variety of weather conditions including but not limited to heat, cold, sun, andrain Additional Information Clearance of a background check Completion of a state criminal background investigation as part of the CDL licensing requirements A physical must be done every two years by an appointed physician who must submit theresults on a Federal DOT medical form Department of Motor Vehicles check upon hire and once a year thereafter Operational hours for bus schedule are 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday Position may require occasional work outside of normal work schedule, based on departmentneeds and the employee's availability Application Special Instructions All applications are to be submitted online.
