Overview Join our team as a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Driver dedicated to safely transporting students to and from school and related activities. This vital role ensures the well-being of young passengers by providing reliable, courteous, and secure transportation services. As a CDL Driver for school, you will operate school buses and transit vehicles while adhering to all safety regulations, traffic laws, and school policies. Your energetic approach and commitment to safety will help create a positive experience for students, parents, and staff alike. Responsibilities Safely operate school buses and transit vehicles in accordance with state and local commercial driving laws, traffic laws, and transportation safety regulations Transport students to and from school, extracurricular activities, field trips, and special events with punctuality and professionalism Assist passengers with wheelchair assistance, boarding, disembarking, and ensuring passenger safety throughout the journey Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including emergency stop procedures and child safety protocols Maintain clear communication with dispatchers, school staff, and parents regarding route changes or delays Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure proper functioning of brakes, lights, signals, and safety equipment Enforce student discipline policies in a respectful manner while managing behavior to ensure a safe environment onboard Complete all required documentation accurately, including logs of mileage, passenger counts, incident reports, and vehicle inspections Skills Proven experience driving buses or transit vehicles with a valid CDL license with passenger endorsement Knowledge of school bus driving techniques, vehicle codes, traffic laws, and transportation safety regulations Strong understanding of emergency response procedures for transportation incidents and child safety protocols Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse student populations Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting passengers or handling equipment safely Skilled in behavior management to promote positive conduct among students during transport Familiarity with child care practices and senior care is advantageous for accommodating all passenger needs Quick response skills for traffic changes or route adjustments; ability to adapt swiftly under pressure Competence in writing detailed reports related to incidents or vehicle maintenance issues This role is perfect for motivated individuals passionate about providing safe transportation services while fostering a positive environment for young learners.
