The School Bus Driver will operate an assigned school bus in accordance with all state laws, district policies, and transportation safety procedures. The successful candidate must be punctual, professional, and committed to providing students with safe and reliable transportation. This is a full-time, 10-month position with a starting salary of $50,000 per year and a benefits package. Work Schedule The driver will complete assigned morning and afternoon school routes. After the morning route, the driver may be released to go home for approximately two hours when no additional work is scheduled. This two-hour period will be unpaid. The driver will be paid during this period only when assigned to a field trip, additional route, training, meeting, vehicle-related task, or another approved duty. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Safely transport students to and from school. Drive students to field trips, athletic events, extracurricular activities, and other approved locations. Follow assigned routes and transportation schedules. Obey all traffic laws, school transportation regulations, and district policies. Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Check the bus for students and personal belongings at the end of each route. Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly school bus. Ensure students follow all bus safety rules. Assist students when entering or exiting the bus when necessary. Report accidents, delays, mechanical problems, safety concerns, and student incidents immediately. Maintain accurate route, mileage, inspection, and attendance records. Communicate professionally with students, parents, school employees, and transportation staff. Attend required meetings, training sessions, and safety programs. Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver's License with all endorsements required to operate a school bus. Valid school bus driver certification, as required by law. Current medical certification and physical clearance. Acceptable driving record. Ability to pass required criminal background checks, fingerprinting, drug testing, and other employment screenings. Knowledge of school bus safety procedures and traffic regulations. Ability to work safely and effectively with children. Dependable, punctual, patient, and professional. Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately during emergencies. Compensation and Benefits Starting salary of $50,000 per year . Full-time, 10-month position. Benefits package. Approximately two-hour unpaid break after the morning route when no additional duties are assigned. Paid time during the mid-day period when assigned a field trip or another approved duty.
