Duties Safely operate school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vehicles according to traffic laws and transportation safety regulations Ensure passenger safety by following child behavior management protocols and assisting students with disabilities or mobility challenges, including wheelchair assistance Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to verify proper functioning of brakes, lights, signals, and emergency equipment Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with students, parents, school staff, and colleagues in multiple languages if applicable Respond promptly to traffic changes, road conditions, and emergency stop procedures to maintain schedule integrity and passenger safety Follow all school policies, vehicle codes, and emergency response procedures for transportation incidents or accidents Assist with loading/unloading students safely, including heavy lifting when necessary for equipment or mobility aids Experience Proven experience driving commercial vehicles such as school buses or transit buses in compliance with state and local laws Familiarity with school policy knowledge related to student discipline, behavior management, and childcare protocols Experience working with children or senior care that demonstrates patience, responsibility, and excellent communication skills Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; commercial driver's license (CDL) with Valid (P) Passenger and (S) School Bus endorsements.
